Fred Cantu, aka Uncle Fred, was a fixture on Austin airwaves on both radio and TV from 1980 to 2025. Fred is a Valley boy, born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. He's a UT graduate and a notorious gadget head. Hobbies include DIY projects, home electronics, foreign television and Traditional Pop standards.
Fred retired in 2025 to devote his full time to his wife of more than 50 years and their two children and five grandchildren.
