Going back to radio... way back.
A message from Uncle Fred
More than 50 years ago, my first radio job in Austin was playing nice, easy listening on "The Gentle Sound of Radio 59, KLBJ." I have just one photo of me at the controls in 1974. That's my dad checking in on me.
I came to Austin with experience from my hometown station in Brownsville which also played easy listening along with Vegas singers and melodic oldies. I was young but instantly fell in love with the stuff.
Now in retirement, I need a creative outlet. And thanks to technology I can take care of my family fulltime and still spin that nice mix of music I miss so much.
I've created an Internet radio station I'm calling K-NICE Nice Music. We can again hear Sinatra, Ella and Burt Bacharach as well as new voices and musicians who also want to keep Traditional Pop music ALIVE. To get a taste of K-NICE, click the play button on the audio player above or check below for a list of the last few songs played. Let me know what you think.
