Fred Cantu, aka Uncle Fred, was a fixture on Austin airwaves from 1980 to 2025.  Fred is a Valley boy, born and raised in Brownsville, Texas.  He's a UT graduate and a notorious gadget head. Hobbies include DIY projects, home electronics, foreign television, travel and traditional pop standards.


Fred retired on March 31, 2025 to devote his full time to his wife of nearly 50 years, two children and five grandchildren.
